School Math Team
Compete against other schools in mathematics
Why It Matters
Shows collaborative thinking and sustained interest in math. Multi-year participation in a team is viewed more favourably than a single contest score.
How to Start
Ask your math teacher to help form a team for inter-school competitions. In Ontario, OFSAA runs math competitions. Many school boards host their own regional math meets.
Commitment
- Medium commitment: a few hours most weeks during the school year.
- Best starting grade: G7
- Start in G7 or G8 - being a founding or long-term member of your school's team looks great on applications.
